From its headquarters in Detroit, Kahn has designed and engineered projects worldwide. From industrial and automotive facilities, research and testing spaces, university and educational buildings, hospitals and health care spaces, corporate office campuses, to urban waterfront and development projects, among others, the team at Kahn has done it all.
“Our overarching goal for the future is to provide the highest quality service, guided by the Kahn Values — Integrity, Professionalism, Respect, Pride, and Passion,” said Alan Cobb, FAIA, current President and CEO of Kahn.
Kahn launched its anniversary celebration with a new Albert Kahn interactive map that allows users to create personalized tours of Kahn buildings in Detroit and around the globe. The celebration of the firm is about Kahn's clients, employees, and the communities the company engages with every day. Kahn has relationships that stretch almost the entire history of the firm, some over 110 years. Many Kahn employees have committed their careers to the firm — several celebrating 40 to 50 years.
“Our tremendous people bring innovation to every project,” Cobb said. “The Kahn Brand sets the standard for the A/E marketplace. Our legacy is about quality, focusing on speed to market because our design teams understand that time is money for our clients.”

In Detroit, Kahn plans on expanding its work across multiple campuses with Henry Ford Health Systems, continuing to infuse new life along the Detroit Riverfront, and continuing renovations on the Detroit Opera House. Another project gaining traction is the upcoming renovation of the historic Detroit Creamery Building for Olympia Development, which also happens to be an original Albert Kahn building.
Beyond Detroit, Kahn has several projects, such as the new headquarters expansion and new office buildings for Erie Insurance and a redevelopment in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania. Combining new mixed-use structures with the adaptive reuse of historic buildings, Kahn’s work with the Erie Downtown Development Corporation will provide a strategy for future city development.
