Wolverine Building Group Appoints Guyton as New Vice President of Human Resources

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Wolverine Building Group announces the addition of Deborah Guyton, Vice President of Human Resources, to its team. Guyton is the second woman that Aaron Jonker and Curt Mulder have added to their leadership team since becoming owners in January 2018.
Guyton has more than 30 years of experience as a strategic human resources leader. Prior to joining Wolverine, Guyton spent 17 years with Mercy Health serving in various human resource roles including Compensation and Benefits Consultant and Team Leader, Manager of Employee Relations, Chief Diversity Officer and Senior HR Business Partner. Guyton served as the Human Resource Leader for Mercy’s Health’s Service Line, encompassing 1,050 employees and 911 beds across three acute care facilities.
Guyton maintains her Senior Certified Professional designation as well as her Senior Professional Human Resources designation. She is an Executive Coach and is the Board Chairperson at the Women’s Resource Center. Guyton holds an Associate of Science and Business from Davenport University and a Master of Arts in educational ministries from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary of Cornerstone. Guyton will serve on Wolverine’s leadership and executive team.
“We are thrilled that Deborah has joined the Wolverine family,” Mulder said. “Not only does Deborah bring a wealth of experience to the team, but she’s also helping us look at the challenges of human resources, workforce development and talent attraction through different lenses.”
Since becoming owners in 2018, Jonker and Mulder have made an intentional effort to diversify their leadership team.
“I can’t think of a business owner out there that does not recognize that not only is our workforce demographic changing, but our clientele demographics are changing as well,” Jonker said. “For a long time Curt and I have believed that it is critical to have diverse voices represented at our senior level to position ourselves for future growth.”
