LANSING, MI — Tony Kratofil, PE, joins HNTB as a National DOT Practice Consultant. In this role he will serve as a strategic adviser on complex projects throughout the Great Lakes. He will also support HNTB’s national DOT market teams and transportation clients nationwide in the oversight and delivery of capital improvement programs.

Based in HNTB’s Lansing, Michigan office, Kratofil brings over 30 years of experience in the public sector and a history of relationships and extensive knowledge in policy, planning, operations, and financing. He is recognized nationally as a leader in transportation systems management and operations.

He has deep experience navigating the interactions between business, government, and communities and will be a core asset to help HNTB and our clients achieve their goals.”

Most recently, Kratofil served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Engineer for the Michigan Department of Transportation where he directed the planning, designing, operating, and maintaining all aspects of Michigan’s surface transportation system.

Kratofil is active in the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), currently serving as the Vice Chair of the committee on transportation systems operations. Kratofil earned his Bachelor of Science in engineering from University of Michigan, and a Master of Science in administration from Central Michigan University.
