SAN ANTONIO, TX — Skanska announces a new investment in the next generation of skilled trade professionals through a donation to Texas State Technical College (TSTC). The company presented a check for $10,000, strengthening the construction workforce pipeline across central and south Texas.
As Texas continues to grow at more than double the U.S. average, demand for skilled labor is rising at an unprecedented pace. With a pipeline of civic, commercial, and education building projects underway and on the horizon, Skanska is actively investing in solutions to help close the industry’s skills gap.
“Central and south Texas are seeing tremendous growth, and with that comes an urgent need for highly trained craft professionals,” said Keith Sitzman, Vice President of Operations at Skanska USA Building in San Antonio. “Supporting Texas State Technical College is an investment not only in students, but in the long-term success of our industry and the communities we serve.”
The contribution will help expand access to hands-on training programs, equipping students with the technical skills needed to succeed in high-demand trade careers. The funding is expected to support approximately 10 students as they complete programs designed to prepare them for immediate entry into the workforce.
Skanska’s partnership with Texas State Technical College reflects a broader commitment to workforce development and community engagement. By collaborating with local educational institutions, Skanska aims to build a sustainable talent pipeline that meets the evolving needs of the construction industry while creating career opportunities for individuals across Texas.
