HOUSTON, TX — United Airlines and the Houston Airport System (HAS) announce a landmark investment in United’s hub at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) with the Terminal B Transformation Program. United Airlines expects to invest more than $1.9 billion in the Terminal B Transformation Program and the City of Houston expects to fund $624 million in enabling projects required for the program. Estimated to serve 36 million passengers, the project encompasses the construction of 40 new gates for both domestic and international travel.

Clark Construction Group recently joined representatives from United Airlines, Houston Airport System, and Manhattan Construction at IAH to unveil plans for the the Terminal B Transformation Program.

Clark is overseeing construction on the Central Processor portion of the project, which includes a new baggage claim hall, baggage handling system ticketing hall, security checkpoint, and additional airline & airport support spaces, concessions, and expanded curbside to ease the terminal’s through-traffic. The project also includes major updates to the concourse which will be completed by Manhattan Construction.

The project will enable United Airlines to increase terminal capacity and improve the airport experience for travelers while driving significant economic growth for Houston. It is slated to create over 3,000 new jobs.

The redevelopment of the several-decade-old terminal is expected to be completed in 2026.
