HOUSTON, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has selected Glenn Allbritton, PE, as the next District Engineer for the Houston District, ushering in a leadership transition for one of Texas' busiest transportation hubs. With over 26 years of experience, Allbritton steps into this role at a pivotal time for the region.
Allbritton’s career reflects a track record of leadership across various capacities within TxDOT. Most recently, as District Engineer for the Abilene District, he oversaw comprehensive transportation operations, from design and construction to traffic management and emergency response. He led during critical moments, such as coordinating statewide disaster responses during Hurricanes Harvey and Beryl.
With a focus on innovation, Allbritton championed the development of the first Rural Planning Organization (RPO) for the Abilene area, a model for uniting regional stakeholders to address evolving transportation needs. This collaborative approach will be significant in Houston, a district known for its growing population, extensive roadway network, and ambitious infrastructure projects.
Allbritton has been a licensed Professional Engineer since 2009 and is a Midwestern State University graduate. In his new role, he will oversee the Houston District’s expansive and rapidly growing transportation network, including more than 11,000 lane miles serving over 7 million residents.
"Glenn’s leadership experience, strategic vision, and ability to foster collaboration make him an exceptional choice to guide the Houston District through its next phase of growth and innovation,” said Mo Bur, the interim Houston District Engineer and TxDOT Director of Project Development.
