WICHITA FALLS, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announces the retirement of Wichita Falls’ District Engineer Michael Beaver after 30 years, all spent in the nine-county Wichita Falls District covering Archer, Baylor, Clay, Cooke, Montague, Throckmorton, Wichita, Wilbarger, and Young counties.
Beaver, a second-generation TxDOT employee, graduated from Midwestern State University with a Bachelor of Science. In November 1993 he started his career as an Engineering Assistant in the Wichita Falls District Design Office, then in 2003 Beaver obtained his Professional Engineering License.
Beaver became the District Engineer in 2018, and while in this role he oversaw more than $1.3 billion in new construction contracts in addition to hundreds of millions of dollars in existing contracts to rehabilitate highways, widen roads, and maintain thousands of miles across the district.
Over his 30-year career, Beaver has worked on multiple projects around the nine-county district, like the Wichita Falls Hike & Bike Trail, Sikes Lake Walking Trail, Lloyd Ruby Overpass, and the Falls Flyover’s 4-Level Direct Connect Interchange. Other regional projects include the expansion of I-35 in Cooke County and upgrades on U.S. 82/277 between Holliday and Knox County and U.S. 82 between Henrietta and Nocona.
