RALEIGH, NC — The U.S. Green Building Council of North Carolina and the U.S. Green Building Council of South Carolina communities share the 2020 Carolinas Sustainable Business Awards winners.

The Sustainable Business Awards promote and recognize excellence in sustainable design, environmental stewardship, and community impact, and highlight the green building initiatives and achievements of local projects, organizations, and individual leaders. Given in several categories, our project awards honor innovative, high-performance buildings that are leading the way throughout the Carolinas.

Winners were recently announced during a virtual ceremony at the annual Carolinas Green Gala celebration. The 2020 Sustainable Business Awards winners are:

• Innovative Project, Building Design and Construction: Higher Education - Sarah & Edward Smith Health Sciences Center at Davidson County Community

• Innovative Project, Interior Design and Construction: Albemarle Corporation HQ Expansion
• Community Champion Project: The Hurt Hub at Davidson
• Marquee Green Building: Bank of America Tower at Legacy Union, Charlotte, North Carolina

• Community Impact: Envision Charlotte
• Volunteer Leadership: Alicia Ravetto, FAIA, LEED Fellow, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, Alicia Ravetto Architect

• Royal Oaks Elementary School, Kannapolis, North Carolina
