Komatsu Provides First Look at New Dozers, Excavators, and Haul Truck

At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, Komatsu offered a preview of two crawler dozers; compact, tight tail-swing excavators; and its updated haul truck.

D61PXi-25 and D175AX-10 Dozers

Engineered to advance productivity and efficiency in earthmoving applications, the D61PXi-25 dozer with intelligent machine control (IMC) and the D175AX-10 large production dozer represent the next phase in Komatsu’s evolution of powertrain performance, operator-centered design, and integrated technology, the company said.

The fully redesigned D61PXi-25 includes:

  • IMC 3.0 with a 10-inch intelligent control touchscreen and updated user interface
  • Auto steering designed to support consistent operation and reduce operator effort
  • IMC operation that helps maintain functionality if the GNSS signal is temporarily lost
  • Redesigned cab with enhanced visibility, ergonomic joysticks, and centralized controls
  • Electronically controlled high-pressure supply and EGR-less engine design to help increase material moved per gallon while supporting precise grading performance

The D175AX-10 represents the first of Komatsu’s next-generation -10 large production dozers. As the successor to the D155AX-8, it introduces a new main frame, track frames, powertrain, cab, and blade system.

In addition, the D175AX-10 features a new four-speed automatic transmission and a redesigned semi-U blade designed for enhanced penetration and reduced material resistance. A new steering system enables pivot, power, and spin turns without sacrificing blade load to enhance maneuverability in side-cutting and scraper-push applications. The new dozer includes an eight-roller track frame and updated undercarriage configuration.

The D175AX-10 also features Komatsu’s newest offroad engine, the DBA127. According to the company, this EGR-less engine helps produce more power for stronger penetration and is designed to lower total cost of ownership through fuel efficiency and extended service intervals.

The D175AX-10 is targeted for introduction in North America in 2026. The D61PXi-25 is planned for a later launch.

PC158USLC-12 and PC158USLCi-12 Excavators

Komatsu plans to introduce the PC158USLC-12 and PC158USLCi-12 excavators in 2026, expanding its next-generation -12 excavator lineup with a compact, tight tail-swing model designed for efficiency and an enhanced operator environment. These excavators build on the PC138USLC-11.

Designed for contractors working in space-constrained job sites, both excavators include:

  • New electric hydraulic control system that provides the ability to customize work equipment speeds, joystick response, and combined operation balance to meet the preferences of each operator
  • Wide-profile cab with a new multi-function seat, EPC joysticks, and an 8-inch touchscreen monitor
  • Komvision 360° monitoring system with human and object detection to mitigate the risk of accidental collision during operation with auto-stop control
  • Standard 2D machine control, 2D boundary control, a bucket payload monitoring system, and joystick travel

The PC158USLCi-12 features IMC 3.0 with in-field design, simple measurements attachment calibration, auto swing, and an enhanced payload monitoring system. This model also includes:

  • 3D machine control that semi-autonomously guides movements in real time, enabling precise excavation across complex terrain
  • 3D boundary control that allows the operator to set multiple work-restriction surfaces
  • Swing-to-line and travel-along-line functions that work in tandem to improve productivity while reducing operator error
  • HM460-6 Articulated Haul Truck

Komatsu also introduced the HM460-6 haul truck, a next-generation articulated dump truck engineered to help contractors move more material with greater consistency across challenging ground conditions, the company said. It includes a new high-output powertrain, advanced traction control, and a redesigned cab.

The HM460-6 is built for variable terrain, soft ground, and haul road conditions that could limit productivity, with a higher-rated payload (now 46.3 tons) and improved fuel efficiency compared to the Komatsu HM400-5 (which this model replaces).

The HM460-6 features the new Komatsu DBA127 engine equipped with a two-stage turbocharger system. The engine delivers 518 gross horsepower at 1,700 rpm, providing increased torque at lower engine speeds to support strong acceleration, improved hill-climb capability, and efficient power delivery under load. The engine meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards. Paired with a new nine-speed Komatsu transmission and intelligent gear control, the powertrain is designed to balance performance and fuel efficiency across a wide range of conditions.

The Komatsu Traction Control System, paired with cross-axle differential locks, helps maintain traction on soft, uneven, or muddy ground. The system continuously monitors wheel speed and slip, automatically applying brake force to individual wheels when traction loss is detected. This system works in conjunction with an inter-axle differential lock and a manually activated cross-axle differential lock, providing operators with multiple layers of traction assistance based on ground conditions.
