D.H. Griffin Companies Signs Agreement to Purchase Komatsu PC900LC-11 Excavator from Linder Industrial Machinery

by: Jessica Hoover
After signing a purchase agreement, D.H. Griffin Companies has become the first company in the United States to own the Komatsu PC900LC-11 excavator. The excavator was purchased during CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 from Linder Industrial Machinery, a heavy equipment dealer offering a variety of new, used, and rental equipment, along with service and parts across 19 branch locations in Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

“We have an over 20-year relationship with Linder and Komatsu, and it really is a true partnership,” said David Griffin Jr., President of D.H. Griffin Companies. “We count on them every day, and they've always come through. ... We're just happy to be buying their products.”

One of the largest industrial contractors in the world, D.H. Griffin offers demolition, environmental, infrastructure, and other contracting services and has locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. D.H. Griffin plans to use the PC900LC-11 for large industrial site grading and utility projects, including a current project where a $2 billion chip plant is being built in North Carolina.

“I'm very excited to be bringing the PC900 to our equipment fleet,” Griffin said. “We have a lot of large excavation projects on the horizon, and this is going to fit very well into the Komatsu family of equipment that we have.”

Komatsu’s PC900LC-11 Excavator Takes Productivity to a New Level
The PC900LC-11 excavator made its debut at Komatsu’s show booth, where it was displayed to over 139,000 CONEXPO-CON/AGG attendees over the course of five days. Designed for heavy construction, demolition, material handling, deep sewer, water, large mass excavation, and mining/quarry projects, the PC900LC-11 is based on an earlier Komatsu excavator model, but with significant design enhancements.

The new model offers increased bucket and lifting capacity, up to a 40 percent increase in productivity, 25 percent more arm crowd force, and 12 percent more swing torque. In addition, the new counterweight removal system increases mobility, the boom configuration reduces transport height, and the new service pass through area allows access to filters, oil level checks, and sample ports.

At CONEXPO-CON/AGG, the PC900LC-11 excavator was displayed with Smart Construction Retrofit, a guidance kit that gives operators in the field and managers in the office access to both 2D and 3D design and payload data. Another tool that comes standard on the PC900LC-11 is the KomVision camera system, which is a 360-degree monitoring system that uses six cameras for a real-time view of the surroundings.

Griffin said that the features of the PC900LC-11 that stood out to him were the increased mobility, safety, and productivity. “It really hits all the buttons that we need,” Griffin said. “From everything that we're hearing so far, I think it's going to punch above its weight. We’re really excited to have it.”
