“The Charlotte office staff is excited to have June ‘return to her roots’ and bring her world-class lab planning and higher education experience to the southeast,” said Richard Alsop, Charlotte Office Managing Principal. “We look forward to continuing our growth in the region with her as an integral part of that strategy.”
Over her 30-year career, Hanley has leveraged her background as a former teacher to inform her approaches to planning spaces for teaching and learning. She collaborates with faculty and researchers to better understand their needs and concerns in their specific fields and facilitates communication between those groups along with students, administrators, and facility managers to best understand how they work and learn. These experiences have put her on the forefront of developing teaching, simulation, and research environments that are flexible, efficient, and conducive to learning.
Hanley is a frequent writer for HDR’s website, sharing her passion about planning for learning spaces and turning them into insights about designing learning environments for how we learn and for teaching health care. She is also a frequent speaker at events held by the Society for College and University Planning and Tradeline, where she recently presented on strategic planning for research facilities.
“June’s relocation to Charlotte is a win-win for her and the ESAT sector,” said Steve Riojas, Global Director of Education, Science, and Advanced Technologies. “June will enjoy being closer to family and she’ll give our Charlotte office, and the Southeast region, a boost in facility programming and planning capabilities.”
