HNTB’s North Texas Offices Named Winner of Regional Black Contractors Association’s Horizontal Program Manager of the Year

DALLAS, TX — The North Texas Offices of HNTB Corporation, an infrastructure solutions firm, have been recognized by the Regional Black Contractors Association (RBCA) as the first-ever recipient of the Horizontal Program Manager of the Year Award. The award is presented to a firm that shows interest in strategizing long-term growth plans for association members. HNTB’s recognition as the Horizontal PM of the Year, further exemplifies the firm’s commitment to working with Black contractors across the country.

“We are incredibly proud of this award from such an impactful organization,” said Steve Knobbe, North Texas Office Leader. “We have built capacity with RBCA members in the transportation industry and cultivated new relationships to grow capacity on municipal projects. We have worked with RBCA members — such as McKissack & McKissack, KAI, and Dikita — resulting in excellent examples of collaborative and strategic long-term planning for expanding capacity with black contractors.”

The Regional Black Contractors Association was incorporated in November 2014 by a small group of African American volunteer business leaders as the successor organization to the original Black Contractors Association, which was founded in June 2002. Today, the Regional Black Contractors Association is an African American construction member services organization in North Texas, serving a membership base of more than 100, including professional services and trades firms in the construction industry, owners, developers, general contractors, construction management firms, and others.

“HNTB is a true leader in building capacity with Black businesses. They commit to not only growing businesses but also communities,” said Kimberly Shaw, President of RBCA. “They have contributed to our Senior Home Program, Workforce Development Program, and assisted with scholarships in underserved communities. Under the leadership of Steve Knobbe, the entire team demonstrates that executing with excellence and valuable collaboration is of the highest priority.”

HNTB’s North Texas Office delivers infrastructure solutions to the State of Texas in transportation, bridges and structures, transit/rail, environmental, public involvement, construction services, toll roads, and aviation. HNTB has been providing these services in the region since 1956. The firm provides jobs to approximately 130 employees in the Dallas area. HNTB currently has three offices serving the region in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Plano.
