Webber Awarded $70M TxDOT FM 1960 Expansion Project
The contract includes widening FM 1960, a principal arterial road, from four to six lanes, with a total project length of 2.84 miles. It also includes construction of a four-lane main lane overpass bridge over West Lake Houston Parkway. The project limits run from east of Twigsworth Lane to West of the San Jacinto Bridge and includes about 170,000 square yards of concrete pavement, 165,000 square feet of bridge deck, and 2.59 million pounds of steel tub girders.
“Houston is Webber’s hometown, and we are excited to help alleviate traffic congestion while better connecting the North Houston area," said Josh Goyne, President of Webber's Heavy Civil Division.
The project will begin in February 2021 with substantial completion in late 2023.
The expansion and rehabilitation of FM 1960 is the latest projected awarded contract to Ferrovial’s American subsidiary, Webber. In 2020, Webber was also awarded the upgrade of IH 35 in Laredo, Texas, worth $115 million, and the construction of the SL12 highway in Dallas worth $301 million, which strengthens Ferrovial’s presence in the United States — its main market — by revenues.
