Burns & McDonnell has a history in Austin dating back to 1922 when Co-Founder Clinton Burns consulted on an Austin water project — formerly known as the Thomas C. Green Water Treatment Plant. Later in 1948, Co-Founder Robert E. McDonnell was hired by the City of Austin to design the Seaholm Power Plant. Since then, Burns & McDonnell has continued to serve the Austin community by providing services to support the rapid growth in the region.
“Starting with our environmental and transportation practices, we have established a solid foundation of high-performing professionals dedicated to customer service and community service,” said Jake Merriman, Austin Office Manager for Burns & McDonnell. “In partnership with our colleagues across Texas, we are poised for rapid growth in several markets including facilities design, infrastructure upgrades, technology consulting, and design-build delivery. We are honored and proud to be a part of the Austin community.”
Burns & McDonnell hired its first Austin-based employee in 2013 and has since grown into a team of 70 employees supporting seven markets with plans to expand to 250 employees.
