AUSTIN, TX — Paulo Faria, CAU/SP, joins HDR as a Design Director for Transportation Architecture. In this position, Faria will leverage his 25 years of experience to craft user-centered storylines and design solutions, elevating HDR's global design brand.

“I look forward to advancing the ethos of design excellence within HDR's architecture and engineering transportation and infrastructure programs, creating a culture of collaboration and demonstrating the value of design quality to our clients,” Faria said.

During his previous employment with HDR, Faria played a key role in the development of the Ontario Line. With knowledge of both the public and private procurement processes, Faria also contributed to significant transportation and infrastructure programs before rejoining HDR, including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority enhanced stations initiative, the New York City pedestrian wayfinding program, and large transportation hubs, including Fulton Street Transit Center, New York Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, and Chicago Union Station.

“Paulo brings forth the leadership skills necessary to lead our transportation architecture design studios, as well as establish strong connections with the health, science, community, and civic teams,” said Brian Kowalchuk, HDR’s Global Design Director. “We’re thrilled to have Paulo on board as he helps guide and inspire the design group and uses his passion and expertise to reinforce HDR’s design philosophy and culture.”

Committed to mentoring the next generation of design professionals, Faria has delivered guest lectures in his home country of Brazil and participated in student critiques and panel discussions at academic institutions, including the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Cornell, and The University of Texas.
