TxDOT Announces Dvorak as New Fort Bend/Waller Assistant Area Engineer
Dvorak graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in May 2008. He has over 13 years of transportation experience with the department beginning full time in May 2008 when he joined the Central Houston Area Office as an Engineering Assistant. Prior to that, he worked two summers as a Construction Inspector in the Brenham Area Office in the Bryan District.
While in the area office, Dvorak was the Project Manager on several construction projects. One of the more challenging projects he oversaw was the I-10 reconstruction in downtown Houston between I-45 and I-69. Dvorak received his Professional Engineering license in 2013 and transitioned to performing construction engineering duties for the area office including utility coordination, change orders, and design and construction support for multiple projects. During this time, he worked to progress multiple projects along the US 290 corridor that experienced unique ROW and utility constraints.
In April 2014, Dvorak joined Maintenance Division in Austin to implement the first performance-based maintenance contract in the Houston District. In this role, he was responsible for all maintenance activities on TxDOT roadways inside BW 8. After the project completed in 2016, Dvorak returned to the Houston District Maintenance office to assist with overseeing maintenance activities for the entire Houston District. He also worked with TxDOT and the local governmental agencies to seek federal reimbursement from FHWA through the Emergency Relief Program for damage caused by Hurricane Harvey and other natural disasters.
In October 2016, Dvorak joined the Strategic Project Office in the Houston District overseeing design-build projects for the district. In this role, he served as Deputy PM of the SH 249 Design Build Project and is currently the Project Manager of the approximately $843-million SH 288 toll lane project in Harris County, which is the only Comprehensive Development Agreement Project in the district. Dvorak is also currently working to procure a design-build contract on the large I-45 NHHIP Segment 3. It is made up of three projects totaling a design-build cost of approximately $4 billion.
