SAN ANTONIO, TX — Skanska has signed a contract for $24 million with Alamo Community Colleges District to manage the construction of a new Recreation and Wellness Building and Bowden Campus Center for St. Philip’s College. The Recreation and Wellness Building will total 55,000 square feet and include specialty teaching labs, two pools, and general classrooms for kinesiology and massage therapy programs. The Bowden Campus Center, a two-story replacement building for the existing facility, will total 25,000 square feet and include classrooms, computer labs, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance center, a staff office suite, and other support spaces.

“This has been a true partnership between Skanska, St. Phillip’s, and Alamo Community Colleges District,” said Ryan Aalsma, Executive Vice President and General Manager for Skanska’s building operations in San Antonio. “Together, we find ways to give back to the local community, and we look forward to many more successful years partnering with St. Philip’s and Alamo Community Colleges District.”

Currently, Skanska is working on the St. Philip’s College campus, building their new Tourism, Hospitality, and Culinary Arts School while also renovating the Norris Technical Building. Construction has begun and is slated for completion in July 2021. The project architect is Page.
