AUSTIN, TX — More than 700 attendees, speakers, sponsors, and legislators attended the sold-out Water for Texas 2025 conference hosted by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) in Austin, Texas.
“Our biennial Water for Texas conference embraces the opportunity to gather and explore solutions to our state’s diverse water challenges,” TWDB Chairwoman L’Oreal Stepney said. “This is our largest conference to date and confirms that state leaders and water industry professionals recognize the importance of collaborating and communicating to ensure a secure water future for Texas."
Texas Demographer Dr. Lloyd Potter opened the conference by sharing the state’s demographic trends and projections and the potential impacts on water's future. State Senator Charles Perry later joined TWDB Executive Administrator Bryan McMath for an in-depth discussion on key water policy issues of the 89th Legislative Session.
Filmmakers Ben Masters and Jay Kleberg spoke during the luncheon keynote with a discussion about how art, film, and storytelling can resonate with audiences, influence water awareness and conservation, and drive behavior change. The conference also featured general sessions and breakout panels focusing on four tracks: water supply and flood planning; science, technology, and data; business of water; and innovation and legacy.
Between sessions, attendees were encouraged to visit exhibitor booths and the TWDB Interactive Space, which featured live demonstrations of TWDB data platforms and more. Networking events provided additional opportunities for attendees to connect with other water industry experts from across the state and beyond.
