Recognized for her work in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry, the Woman of the Year honor was given to Alvarez during the Luna Awards recently held in the Alamo City. The Luna Awards were established to recognize women in the construction industry. Proceeds from the event go toward scholarships for students who want to enter the A/E/C industry.
Alvarez, who has a master’s degree in civil engineering from Louisiana State University, is an industry expert whose focus is on sustainable and resilient water solutions, water and sewer pipelines, and utility coordination. Providing technical expertise, Alvarez leads the Municipal Group in the San Antonio LAN office.
She is responsible for the project management of multiple civil infrastructure projects for the San Antonio Water System, San Antonio River Authority, City of San Antonio, and Bexar County. She has been a licensed Engineer since 2013 and has worked with Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. for more than four years.
