McLeod began his career with TxDOT as a summer hire in June 1999 working in construction with the Central Houston Area Office. He graduated from Texas A&M University in May 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and in June 2001 began work as a full-time Engineering Assistant in the design group of the area office.
In 2006, McLeod received his Professional Engineering license and soon after became the Design Lead for the area office, which was reorganized to be the West Harris Area Office. As Design Lead, he oversaw a variety of major projects, including reconstruction projects for the I-610 North Loop from east of US 290 to I-10 East, I-10 from I-45 to US 59, and multiple segments of US 290. Over his career, McLeod has also designed many rehabilitation and maintenance projects, and emergency contracts for locations all over the six-county region of the Houston District.
In January 2021, McLeod was selected as the Assistant Area Engineer for the West Harris Area Office, assisting with the management of design, construction, and maintenance functions. Since December 2022, in addition to his duties as Assistant Area Engineer, McLeod has been heavily involved with the North Houston Highway Improvement Project, managing project development for Segment 2 and Segment 3A. He has also served on the district’s Design Exception, Waiver, and Variance Committee since February 2022.
