Collins Recognized as Texas A&M Distinguished Alumni
Collins began a more than 40-year career in civil engineering after graduation from Texas A&M and now serves as the Executive Vice President on the board of directors for LJA Engineering. From the beginning, he was inspired to build a firm that allows success and growth for both employee-owners and clients. He currently focuses on leading the Public Infrastructure Sector, which includes public works and transportation.
“Jeff continually makes significant contributions to the profession of civil engineering,” said Daniel J. C. Copps III (Class of ‘83), Senior Vice President of LJA Engineering. “He has held numerous leadership roles in professional societies, advocacy groups and community groups. Starting with being awarded Young Engineer of the Year with the Texas Society of Professional Engineers to holding leadership roles with the Houston Transportation Advocacy Group and the Houston chapter of American Council of Engineering Companies. As Executive Vice President and Board Member of LJA Engineering, he has been instrumental in the company’s growth and success.”
Earlier this year, Collins and his wife Alicia (Class of ’82) established the Alicia ’82 and Jeff Collins ’80 Scholarship to provide financial support to full-time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University.
“We are so proud of Jeff, his leadership, accomplishments and philanthropy,” said Calvin T. Ladner (Class of ’80), President of LJA Engineering. “He sets a great example and a very high bar. It is a privilege to know him and work with him.”
